Description of Job Duty Competency to be Achieved

Know how to utilize tools available for creating, reading, and writing AWIPS data sets.


Description of Need

Developers need to have the ability to read and/or write into the various AWIPS data sets. This ensures that operational and historical data are easily accessible to the local application without negatively impacting the baseline AWIPS operations.


Specific Job Task Skills and Knowledge

1. Know the location of AWIPS datasets and thier structure.

2. Understand Informix RDBMS priciples

3. Use Informix database tools to query and manage data

4. Use AWIPS utitity programs to read and manipulate datasets
