Pacific Island Ecosystems Research Center (PIERC)

The Pacific Island Ecosystems Research Center (PIERC) focuses on the restoration of the Pacific Basin’s ecosystems, especially those of Hawaii, Guam, Truk, the Mariana Islands, and the American Samoa. Emphasis is placed on understanding and mitigating the effects of invasive species, habitat alteration, and climate change to at-risk birds, coral reefs, fish, and other island flora and fauna.
