Disaster Recovery Center Changes Days of Operation

Parsons, KS -- State and federal officials announced today that the joint federal/state Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) opened in Parsons to assist residents of Crawford, Labette and Neosho counties affected by the severe storms and tornadoes April 19th and 20th, will be closed Sundays beginning this weekend.
The DRC will remain open between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday until further notice.
The DRC, located in the basement of the Parsons Municipal Building at 112 South 17th Street, is designed to provide more detailed program information to people who have already applied for assistance by calling the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) toll-free registration number: 1-800-462-9029 (TTY 1-800-462-7585).
"Anyone still needing assistance, especially temporary, short term housing, or is interested in using a travel trailer for temporary housing purposes, should visit the DRC," said FEMA Federal Coordinating Officer Louis Botta. "Our intent is to help people get back to a sense of normalcy as quickly as possible."
In addition, those people who have registered and have additional questions or need to update any information that may have changed, for instance, telephone numbers or addresses where individuals can be contacted, are encouraged to call FEMA's toll-free Helpline number: 1-800-525-0321 (TTY 1-800-462-7585).
