APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED FOR THIRD YEAR OF NOAA
EDUCATIONAL PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM

Applications for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Educational Partnership Program (EPP) with Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) graduate and undergraduate scholarship programs are being accepted through Jan. 27, 2003. All graduate and undergraduate students in NOAA-related fields are encouraged to apply. NOAA is an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

“We are looking for graduate and undergraduate students in NOAA-related fields, such as engineering, physics, physical science, economics, geography, atmospheric sciences, math, and computer sciences,” said Jacqueline Rousseau, director of the EPP.

The program’s goal is to encourage students and faculty at minority serving institutions to pursue applied research and education in atmospheric, oceanic, and environmental sciences and remote sensing programs.

“Through this program, the students work with NOAA scientists at NOAA facilities, and we hope that they consider a career with NOAA,” Rousseau said.

The Graduate Sciences Program applicants must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, a 3.0 average, and be a U.S. citizen. Successful applicants are hired into entry-level positions at NOAA and then trained in a predetermined course of study.

Ten students are selected for the Undergraduate Scholarship Program, a 10-week paid summer internship. Applicants must attend a MSI and declare a major in a NOAA-related field.
