Interview with a woman living with cancer

Faced with the diagnosis of cancer, Kris Carr refused to go down without a fight. Her quest for information and no-nonsense attitude empowered her to become an advocate for her own health. In doing so, she created a documentary, wrote several books, and developed a blog and an online community. Read her interview for some inspiration on how to love life — even with cancer.

What is Human Papillomavirus (HPV)?

You may have heard a lot about human papillomavirus (pap-uh-LOH-muh-veye-ruhss), or HPV, in the news. Genital HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the United States. About 20 million Americans ages 15 to 49 currently have it. At least half of all sexually active men and women get genital HPV at some time in their lives. But most people never know it. This is because HPV most often has no symptoms and goes away on its own.

What Women Want to Know

Highlights from the womenshealth.gov call center

We received an e-mail from a 21-year-old woman who was recently diagnosed with adrenal fatigue and ovarian shutdown. Doctors believe it was caused by stress. She gained 30 pounds even with watching what she ate and being physically active. She wanted to know if we could give her additional information.

We told her she should see her doctor to get more information on adrenal fatigue and ovarian shut down, but we provided her links to additional information she could use.
