WGRFC Web Page Changes

As of April 23, 2009, the WGRFC Web pages have transitioned to a new Content Management System (CMS).  What this means for the user, enhanced stability.

This CMS transition/change is predicated on the concept of removing the "single point of failure".  In the past, if our regional web server failed, there were no backups.  Our customers were left "out in the cold" for web service.  After this transition, web pages are replicated on 3 servers, are load balanced, and if one fails, the other two servers will continue to serve our pages to our customers.

We have taken this opportunity to remove redundancy in products.  We will no longer generate local hydrographs or list of observations.  These products are availabe via the AHPS (Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service) suite.  Web links have been adjusted.

Also, "pop up" information on the status maps on the drill down pages has been added to the status map main page.

Another enhancement, the Quick Brief page/tab will change.  Our local Hydrometeorological Analysis and Support (HAS) team has done an outstanding job of making our Graphical Hydrometeorological Discussion (Graphical HMD) product a benchmark in customer service.  This Graphical HMD will replace our Quick Brief page.
