LONG BEACH, Miss. -- Federal, state, local and voluntary agencies are working in partnership to speed help to Mississippi residents as they continue their recovery from the severe weather resulting from Hurricane Gustav during the period Aug. 28 to Sept. 8, 2008. Families, individuals and business owners are receiving disaster assistance to help them rebuild their lives.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency are urging anyone who sustained damage from Hurricane Gustav to register with FEMA for assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the hearing or speech impaired, or by going online to www.fema.gov.

Affected residents are encouraged to register whether they have insurance or not. Federal disaster aid may cover expenses that insurance does not cover or individuals may find themselves underinsured.
