Helpline and SBA Centers Will Keep You Connected to FEMA

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The closing of Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) doesn't mean you can't continue to talk one-to-one with a knowledgeable Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recovery specialist about your ongoing disaster-related needs.
After the centers close, stay in touch with FEMA by using the Helpline option at FEMA's toll-free registration line 800-621-FEMA (3362) or for the speech- and hearing-impaired 800-462-7585 (TTY). The Helpline is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. Residents in declared counties can continue to register for assistance or obtain general disaster information on the FEMA website, www.fema.gov.
Registered applicants may use the Helpline to check on the status of their application, update their contact information, change an inspection appointment or ask any recovery questions. Multilingual recovery information is available in several languages through the Helpline.
Face-to-face meetings with FEMA recovery specialists will continue to be available at U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loan Outreach Centers (DLOCs) serving two areas of the state. At the SBA Centers, FEMA specialists will be able to answer questions from registered applicants about a broad range of state-FEMA individual assistance programs.
In Polk County, a DLOC serving residents of Bartow, Floyd and Polk counties will take the place of the recently closed DRC operating at the Polk County Emergency Management Office, 55 Cline Ingram Jackson Road, Cedartown. The center will open Friday, April 4 at 9 a.m. Weekly hours of operation will be Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., until further notice.
In Fulton County, an SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center, also serving DeKalb County residents, will be located at City Hall East, 675 Ponce de Leon Avenue N.E. (fifth floor) in Atlanta. The center will open Monday, April 7 with operating hours Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., until further notice. Visitors should use the main entrance of City Hall East and be prepared to go through a security system metal detector at this public facility.
FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
