FEMA Disaster Recovery Specialists Begin Outreach In Fulton County

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) disaster recovery specialists will be in two Fulton County locations today (Saturday) to assist area survivors continuing to recover from the March 14-16 severe storms and tornadoes.

The recovery specialists will be available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. to speak with those affected by the storms and tornadoes and are ready to help survivors begin the process of applying for disaster assistance at the following locations:

Atlanta, GA 30316

Beulah Baptist Church
170 Griffin St., NW
Atlanta, GA 30314 

Federal and state officials are urging all Fulton County homeowners, renters and business owners with disaster-related damage or losses to apply for disaster assistance now.

Another outreach effort will begin Saturday when Community Relations teams start to canvass county neighborhoods to explain available programs and help identify unmet needs. The teams will not work  Sunday but will resume Monday. All FEMA personnel carry and display photographic identification when they call on the public.

Applicants can register by calling FEMA's toll-free at (800) 621-3362 (FEMA). Or, for the hearing- and speech-impaired, call TTY (800) 462-7585 to apply. Multilingual operators are available. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily until further notice. Application for disaster assistance can also be made by registering online at www.fema.gov.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
