Jason Captures Underwater Volcano Jason Expedition to the Mariana Volcanic Arc
An international team of scientists using the WHOI-operated ROV Jason have captured dramatic new video and still images of an erupting undersea volcano near the Island of Guam. Based on what they saw, the team, led by Bill Chadwick of Oregon State University, determined that the volcano has grown considerably over the past three years, appears to be continuously active, and supports a unique biological community.
