Producer prices fall again

The Producer Price Index for Finished Goods declined 0.9 percent in July, seasonally adjusted. This index posted a 0.4-percent drop in June and increased 0.1 percent in May.

Prices received by manufacturers of intermediate goods fell 1.0 percent in July, following a 0.1-percent decrease a month earlier. The crude goods index posted a 5.3-percent decline, after moving down 6.0 percent in June.

From July 2000 to July 2001, prices for finished goods advanced 1.5 percent.
