Introduction

The key to educational success in the early grades is learning to read. Researchers have learned that if your child has not learned to read by nine years of age, or third grade, the educational process will be much more difficult for them throughout high school. This website will provide guidelines as well as links to information on how you can help your school-age child succeed.

While there are certain aspects of education for Hispanic children that are unique because of the fact that the children speak a language other than English and because of cultural differences, there are also many aspects of the educational system that are no different for Hispanic children than for other children in the United States. In this section you will find, information for parents and others in the community about how to help Hispanic youngsters in kindergarten through grade five succeed in the educational process.
