Hires rate in December 2004

The hires rate was 3.4 percent in December 2004, a slight decrease from a month earlier.

The hires rate decreased in manufacturing, professional and business services, and government over the month. The hires rate also fell in the Midwest region.

The hires rate is the number of hires during the month divided by employment. Hires are any additions to the payroll during the month.
