Fastest growing industries

Computer-related industries are expected to continue their rapid employment growth and constitute 3 of the 5 industries that are projected to grow fastest between 2002 and 2012.

Software publishers are projected to experience an increase of 68 percent in wage-and-salary employment over the 2002-12 period. Employment in internet service providers and Web search portals is projected to increase by 64 percent; and computer systems design and related services employment is projected to increase by 55 percent.

All of the industries shown in the chart have projected growth rates of 50 percent or more; in comparison, the average projected growth rate for all industries is 16 percent.
