FAQs
1. What is child support?
Child support is the financial support paid by a noncustodial parent to help support their child or children.
2. Where can I obtain state or lower geographic level child support statistics?
The Census Bureau releases child support statistics for the Nation as a whole,
since the sample size is so small in the surveys in which child support questions
are asked. State level data pertaining to child support enforcement cases is
available from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of
Child Support Enforcement, or the individual state child support enforcement
agencies.
