Columbia, MO -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced new hours for its toll-free registration line and helpline. The telephone services are now open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The toll-free registration line is provided for residents and business owners in certain Missouri counties to apply for disaster assistance because of the tornadoes that struck in southeast Missouri in late April and the floods that followed around the state.

The helpline provides assistance to those who have already registered by answering their questions and taking new or changed information. The number for both services is 800-621-FEMA (3362). People with hearing or speech impairments may call TTY 800-462-7585.

The application deadline is Monday, July 8.

The counties affected are those where Individual Assistance is available in connection with President Bush's May 6 disaster declaration. The counties are: Barry, Barton, Bollinger, Butler, Camden, Cape Girardeau, Carter, Cedar, Christian, Crawford, Dade, Dallas, Dent, Douglas, Dunklin, Greene, Hickory, Howell, Iron, Jasper, Jefferson, Laclede, Lawrence, Madison, McDonald, Mississippi, New Madrid, Newton, Oregon, Ozark, Pemiscot, Perry, Polk, Reynolds, Ripley, Scott, Shannon, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve, Stoddard, Stone, Taney, Texas, Vernon, Washington, Wayne, Webster and Wright.
