Disaster Assistance Application Deadline Approaches

Columbia, MO -- The deadline is just two weeks away for applying for federal disaster assistance in connection with the tornadoes and floods that struck Missouri beginning in late April. Monday, July 8, is the last day for those who experienced losses in 48 Missouri counties to register, according to the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Assistance can include grants to help pay for temporary housing, emergency home repairs and other serious disaster-related expenses. Low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration are also available to cover residential and business losses not fully compensated by insurance.
Counties where aid is available through FEMA's Individual Assistance program are: Barry, Barton, Bollinger, Butler, Camden, Cape Girardeau, Carter, Cedar, Christian, Crawford, Dade, Dallas, Dent, Douglas, Dunklin, Greene, Hickory, Howell, Iron, Jasper, Jefferson, Laclede, Lawrence, Madison, McDonald, Mississippi, New Madrid, Newton, Oregon, Ozark, Pemiscot, Perry, Polk, Reynolds, Ripley, Scott, Shannon, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve, Stoddard, Stone, Taney, Texas, Vernon, Washington, Wayne, Webster and Wright.
