Cedar Rapids, Iowa -- State officials are reminding Iowans that free help for disaster-related stress is just a phone call away.
If you are experiencing emotional distress as a result of the severe storms and flooding that began on June 3 and you live in one of the Iowa counties listed below, assistance is available 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.

Short-term intervention counseling for the residents of the above counties is available at no cost.
Iowa state officials are urging all Iowa homeowners, renters, farmers, agricultural producers, or business owners who sustained damage as a result of severe storms and flooding that began on June 3, regardless of where in Iowa they live, should register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for disaster assistance. FEMA's toll-free registration number is 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). People with hearing or speech impairments may call (TTY) 1-800-462-7585. Recovery specialists are available to take calls from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., CDT, seven days a week.
