Columbia, MO -- Friday, June 14, will be the final day of operations for the Disaster Recovery Centers in Fredericktown, Lamar and Springfield. The closings were announced today by the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The centers will remain open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday. They are located in the United Methodist Church at 216 S. Main in Fredericktown; in West View Center at 824 12th St., unit 824B, in Lamar; and in the Greene County Courthouse at 940 Boonville St. in Springfield.

Disaster Recovery Centers are designed to provide more detailed program information to those who have already applied for assistance under President Bush's May 6 disaster declaration. They are staffed with disaster recovery specialists, including representatives of FEMA, SEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration. Information is available on temporary housing, low-interest loans, disaster unemployment and hazard mitigation.

Through July 8, disaster victims may register for assistance by calling toll-free 800-621-FEMA (3362), or (TTY) 800-462-7585 for the hearing- or speech-impaired. People who have already applied can call the same numbers to find out about assistance programs and status of their applications.
