NSC Recognizes "Workers Memorial Day"

The National Safety Council is recognizing Workers Memorial Day, April 28, by remembering all workers who have died on the job and voicing its continued commitment to employee safety. Though there are fewer unintentional workplace deaths today than at any other time since such data has been recorded, each year there are thousands of job-related deaths and millions of injuries and illnesses. NSC Promotes Teen Driving Laws

On April 23 the Saferoads4teens Coalition is introducing the Safe Teen and Novice Driver Uniform Protection (STANDUP) Act. The newly formed coalition includes teens, parents, medical groups, the NSC and other business leaders who have come together to urge all states to enact comprehensive Graduated Drivers Licensing laws for teen drivers. The NSC has issued a statement of support for the STANDUP Act and the coalition. Traffic crashes are the number-one cause of teen fatalities -- an estimated 38 percent of all teen deaths occur from crashes.
