Infrastructure Development ToolsActivity 9: Coordinate Community Water Fluoridation ProgramsIndividual community water system operators are responsible for maintaining their water fluoridation services, but state oversight is necessary to assure quality services. A community water fluoridation program can be characterized as the collective efforts of promoting and implementing a state fluoridation program and maintaining consistency of fluoridation within a state. This program may be jointly managed by the state oral health program and the state agency responsible for the drinking water program. As part of their responsibilities, these agencies may work together to plan, implement, and evaluate a water operator fluoridation education program.
