Gypsy Moth Spray - Public Notice

Middleton to Spray again for Gypsy Moths - Last spring the city of Middleton had approximately 250 acres in the Sak's Wood neighborhood sprayed by airplane to control gypsy moths. Residents report caterpillar numbers were much reduced this past summer and no trees were defoliated by the insects. Total eradication cannot be expected, and the infestation has spread beyond last year's treatment area. The city of Middleton is working with Dane County and has proposed a treatment area that expandslast year's block to about 500 acres. Spraying will be weather dependant and will occur in early May. Residents in the proposed area will be notified by mail of the proposed spraying. Additional information concerning gypsy moths can be obtained here and also online at www.gypsymoth.wi.gov.
