Corrections to Local Area Unemployment Statistics data for Iowa substate areas, January 2009An error was detected in the preliminary Local Area Unemployment Statistics January 2009 estimates for substate areas in Iowa after the data were released on March 19. The error affects all substate areas in Iowa, but particularly the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The state totals were not affected. The January 2009 data for the Iowa substate areas in the January Metropolitan Area Employment and Unemployment news release (PDF) and in the publicly available database are incorrect. The corrected data are shown in the following files: (XLS) (PDF). The rank tables Unemployment Rates for Metropolitan Areas and Over-the-Year Change in Unemployment Rates for Metropolitan Areas were corrected on March 27. The January 2009 revised substate area estimates for Iowa and the rest of the nation will be released along with the February preliminary data, as scheduled, at 10:00 AM Eastern Time on Wednesday, April 1. January 2009 revised estimates will reflect the corrections to the preliminary estimates as well as normal monthly revisions.
