From generating media attention, hosting screening events, and convening COPD coalitions to disseminating materials and even driving traffic to the campaign Web site -- our partners are engaged, active, and working hard to spread the word about COPD.
The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute ‘s COPD Learn More Breathe Better® campaign convened a full-day workshop, entitled Community Partnership Planning: Setting the Stage for Progress, on March 3, 2009 in Bethesda, Maryland. Fifty-three COPD advocates participated, including representatives from 15 of the campaign’s 18 community partner sites as well as leaders from national partner organizations. The workshop was designed to support the evolving needs of campaign partners, helping community-focused coalitions move beyond start-up activities and discussions and move toward sustained outreach activities.
Presenters included William Furmanski, Senior Vice Present of Collaboration and Outreach at the American Legacy Foundation, Linda Leber, R.N., C.D.E., Diabetes Education Coordinator for the Kentucky Diabetes Prevention and Control Program, Kristin D. Wilson, Ph.D., M.H.A., Project Director of Controlling Asthma in St. Louis/St. Louis Asthma Consortium and Janet Croft, Ph.D., of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
