U.S. Department of Justice
Federal Bureau of Investigation
Fidelity, Bravery, Integrity
Are you an accomplished and highly qualified graduate or undergraduate
student interested in public service with the federal government? Have
you ever wondered what it would be like to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)? As the U.S. Department of Justice's principal investigative unit, the FBI may have just the opportunity for you! The FBI offers three employment programs for students.
Presidential Management Internship (PMI) Program
The PMI Program is a government-wide program administered by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). While PMIs are ultimately hired by individual agencies for their two-year appointment, the nomination and selection process is conducted by the OPM. PMIs receive an initial two-year full-time excepted appointment, after which they are eligible for conversion to a permanent federal government position.
Honors Internship Program
Each summer, a special group of outstanding undergraduate and graduate students are selected to participate in the FBI Honors Internship Program in Washington, D.C. The program offers students an exciting insiders view of FBI operations and provides an opportunity to explore the many career opportunities within the Bureau. At the same time, the program is designed to enhance the FBI's visibility and recruitment efforts at colleges and universities throughout the United States.
You must be attending a 4-year accredited school full-time. Undergraduate students must be in their junior or senior year, and graduate-level students must be currently attending school. All students must be returning to their respective schools for at least one semester upon completion of the HIP Program.
For further information regarding the HIP, visit the website at
www.fbi.gov.
Non-Paid Internship Program
The Non-Paid Internship Program (NPIP) provides a unique working experience to students who are interested in exploring career opportunities in the FBI related to their academic studies. The NPIP encourages students to volunteer their services to the FBI while gaining valuable work experience and/or earning college credit. This program offers time-limited opportunities for volunteer service to students officially enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program. This program exposes students to the FBI's work environment and provides an opportunity to explore career options and develop personal and professional skills.
