Saving Your Work

In American FactFinder, a "query" is file that includes a set of commands that will recreate a data set that has had multiple column actions and row actions performed on it.

Saving Queries

To save a query:

  1. Select "Print / Download" from the menu.
  2. Click "Save Query".
  3. Save the file to your hard drive. The default file name is "IBQSavedQuery.xql".

Note: Saved query files can be e-mailed, transferred or copied like any other computer file.

Loading Queries

To load a query:

  1. Select "Print / Download" from the menu.
  2. Click "Load Query".
  3. Click "Browse" and locate the file on your hard drive.
  4. Click "Go".

The resulting data set is restored from the query.
