The Resources Development Branch of the Cancer Diagnosis Program, Division of
Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis, will hold a pre-application informational
meeting for investigators planning to submit applications in response to
Request for Applications (RFA) CA-01-006, “Shared Pathology Informatics
Network.” This meeting will provide prospective applicants with an
opportunity in a public forum to receive answers to their questions about the
intent and requirements of the RFA. Representatives from the Resources
Development Branch of the Cancer Diagnosis Program, Grants Administration
Branch and Special Review, Referral and Resources Branch will be available to
provide information and to answer questions relevant to applications
responding to this RFA. Program staff will be available to discuss
informatics, diagnostic pathology, medical nomenclature, internet security,
and patient confidentiality. Applications are requested from pre-formed
consortia consisting of 3-5 institutions or organizations. We encourage
attendance by as many consortium members as needed to represent the diverse
areas of expertise that will be included in each consortium. The complete
text of the RFA is available at:
http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-CA-01-006.html.

(http://www-cdp.ims.nci.nih.gov/new.html) as a public document as soon as
possible after the meeting, to provide applicants unable to attend the
meeting with access to the proceedings. All applicants are strongly
encouraged to discuss their applications with Dr. Jules Berman as early as
possible in the application process.

The pre-application meeting will be held on May 22, 2000, from 12:30 p.m. to
