Wednesday, May 6 – Thursday, May 7: In the Southwest, warm temperatures and sunny skies, and light winds will enhance ozone formation, resulting in Moderate AQI levels in parts of Arizona, Nevada, and California with Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups AQI levels expected in Pinal County and Phoenix, Arizona. Farther east, similar weather conditions will enhance ozone formation and light winds will limit pollutant dispersion, resulting in Moderate AQI levels in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Florida.
In the Midwest and Northeast, south-southwesterly ahead an approaching surface low-pressure system will transport moisture and pollutants into the region. In addition, increased humidity due to rain showers will enhance particle production, resulting in Moderate AQI levels in parts of Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Maryland.
