The goal of the Arizona mine training program is to save lives, reduce injuries, and prevent health endangerment through increased opportunities for miners to receive Annual Refresher training which includes mine specific content, improved quality of presentations and added emphasis on additional health concerns. The program also conducts training for:

• 30 CFR parts 46 and 48, New Miner training for miners and contractors;
• prevention of silicosis;
• 30 CFR part 49, Mine Rescue Training;
• Cooperative Instructor Training ("Train the Trainer");
• 30 CFR parts 56 and 57, to improve miner response to accidents involving injury, to medical emergencies, and to provide training to meet the demand for qualified personnel.

Arizona conducts two major seminars annually. One is held in conjunction with the Southwest Safety Conference in May. It provides instructors with a briefing about the latest ideas and techniques to keep their presentations fresh, interesting and relevant. The second conference, the International Safety Conference, covers all aspects of mining safety.
