The Department of State has prepared this first of six annual reports on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions as required by Paragraph (c)(1) of the Senate Resolution of Advice and Consent of July 31, 1998. This report is the result of close collaboration among a number of federal agencies, including the Department of Commerce, the Department of Justice, the Department of the Treasury, the U.S. Security and Exchange Commission, and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. The Department of State report reflects the same key points and findings as those contained in the Department of Commerce's July 1999 report Addressing the Challenges of International Bribery and Fair Competiton.
