Deputy Chief Administrative Law Judge named
Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Chairman Joseph T. Kelliher
has announced the appointment of Judge Lawrence Brenner as Deputy
Chief Administrative Law Judge.
"I'm pleased that Judge Brenner has accepted this position. His extensive
background in energy law, along with his exemplary work in mediating
some particularly difficult cases, has proved invaluable to
the Commission," Chairman
Kelliher said.
As Deputy Chief Administrative Law Judge, Judge Brenner will assist
Chief Administrative Law Judge Curtis Wagner, Jr. with administrative
and managerial duties in the Office of Administrative Law Judges
and serve as
head of the office in the Chief Judge's absence.
Judge Brenner joined the Commission as an administrative law
judge in December 1994. From 1986 to 1994, Judge Brenner served
as an administrative law judge with the U.S. Department of
Labor.
From 1981 to 1986, Judge Brenner was an administrative judge
with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. He was awarded a Congressional
Fellowship in 1985, and, on leave as a judge, worked with the
United States Congress,
primarily on energy and environmental issues.
Judge Brenner is past President of the Federal Administrative
Law Judges Conference and the Forum of U.S. Administrative Law
Judges.
A native of New York, Judge Brenner is a graduate of the State
University of New York at Buffalo, School of Law.
