June 4th

Start of field trip.

Mobilize field crew and boats (Cargo, Prop, and Jet) to the Yukon River at the Dalton Hwy Bridge.

Collected grab samples from Yukon River at Bridge

Sampled Ray River. Discharge by Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP). Composite water sample with a D-96 sampler by Equal Discharge Increment method (EDI).

Sampled Hess Creek. ADCP, no EDI, velocity too low. Jerican grab in centriod of flow.

Field crew (Cargo and Prop) continued to Tanana. 142 miles. Arrived after midnight. Lodged at B&B.

Support crew (Jet) returns to Fairbanks at midnight with samples. Stored samples in frig.

Mobilize field crew and boats (Cargo, Prop, and Jet) to the Yukon River at the Dalton Hwy Bridge.

June 5th

Lab crew processed samples (Ray, Hess, Tozitna).

Topped off all boat gas tanks.

Sampled Tozitna River. ADCP and EDI.

Cargo returns to Tanana, ships sample to Fairbanks for processing. Tops off on gas.

Field crew rendezvous at camp ~8 pm, near mouth of Nowitna River. 107 miles.

June 6th

Sampled Nowitna River. ADCP and EDI.

Grab samples from Yukon below Nowitna.

Sampled Melozitna River. ADCP and Equal Width Increment (EWI).

Field crew arrived at Ruby ~6 pm. 48 miles. Lodging at Moose Camp.

June 7th

Bad weather. Heavy rain and strong winds. No sampling

June 8th

Sampled Yukon main stem at Ruby. ADCP and EDI.

Sampled Yuki River. Grab sample in centroid of flow. Velocity <1 ft/s.

All samples packed and left with Ruby airport agent to be shipped back to Fairbanks for processing. Continued down Yukon.

Arrived at Galena, 6 pm. 59 miles. Lodged at BLM fire station.

June 9th

Early am, field crew leaves Yuki sample with Galena airport agent.

Samples (Nowitna, Melozitna, Yukon@Ruby, Yuki) arrived at Fairbanks. Processed immediately. Lab crew finished at 2 am.

Field crew restocked ice compliments of BLM. Topped off boat gas tanks.

Sampled Koyukuk River. ADCP and EDI.

Grab samples from Yukon below Koyukuk.

Sampled Nulato River and Nulato DUP. ADCP and EDI.

Field crew arrived at camp, 2 mi. upstream of Kaltag, 11 pm. 110 miles.

Samples arrive at Fairbanks.  Processed immediately.  Lab crew finished at 2 am.

June 10th

Early am, field crew drops Koyukuk and Nulato samples with airport agent at Kaltag. Filled all boat gas tanks.

Lab crew received Koyukuk sample at 7 pm, finished processing at midnight.

Sampled Yukon main stem at Kaltag. ADCP and EDI.

Field crew arrived at camp 10 miles upstream of Anvik, 9:30 pm. 150 miles.

June 11th

Lab crew receives Koyukuk and Nulato samples at 8 pm. Finished processing at 1:30 am.

Sampled Anvik River. ADCP and EDI; Bonasila Rivers. Grab in centriod of flow.

Field crew arrived at Holy Cross 6 pm. 56 miles. Lodging at Holy Cross Lodge.

June 12th

John Pearce, BRD, joins crew; goose nesting survey

Field crew shipped Anvik and Bonasila samples from Holy Cross airport in am.

Sampled Innoko River. ADCP and EWI. Returned to Holy Cross and left sample with airport agent.

Grab samples from Yukon below Innoko.

Lab crew received Anvik and Bonasila samples at 8 pm. Finished processing at 3 am.

Field crew arrived at camp 4 mi. above Atchuelinguk River 10 pm. ~200 miles.

June 13th

Lab crew received Innoko sample at 7 pm. Finished processing at midnight.

Sampled Atchuelinguk River Grab at centriod of flow. No Discharge. Velocity too slow for ADCP; Andreafsky River, ADCP and EDI; Yukon River at Pilot Station, grab samples only.

Field crew arrived at St Mary's 3 pm. ~40 miles. Shipped samples out on afternoon flight. Secured boats at shipyard. Lodging at Roz's.

June 14th

Lab crew received Atchuelinguk, Andreafsky, and Pilot samples at 9 am. Processed until 3:30 pm. Picked up field crew at Fairbanks airport. Finished processing at 1am

June 15th

Equipment break down, sample shipment, and preparations for the August sampling trip. Some crew members return home.
