A primary goal of Technical Preservation Services (TPS) is to publish state-of-the-art information about responsible methods of caring for historic buildings. The collection includes Standards and Guidelines, public service leaflets and books on using the Tax Incentives, reports on conserving fragile historic building materials, case studies on specific structures, and a wealth of technical preservation guidance on preserving historic buildings and landscapes. Series currently include Preservation Briefs, Preservation Tech Notes, Technical Reports, Program/Training Information, and Co-Published Books.
TPS publications have had a profound impact on the way the public both perceives and treats
historic properties. Today, many local review commissions nationwide have
adopted TPS-authored Standards and Guidelines and information in the Preservation
Briefs is routinely referenced in architectural specifications.
