Title: ¤Coal Mine Dust
Personal Monitors |
Abstract: Existing 30
CFR part 74, specifies requirements for approval of coal
mine dust personal sampler units designed to determine
the concentrations of respirable coal dust in coal mine
atmospheres; procedures for applying for such approval;
tests procedures; and labeling. This rulemaking
established new requirements that both the National
Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and
Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) would use
to approve coal mine dust personal samplers. The
requirements would permit the approval of a new type of
device, the “continuous personal dust monitor”. It would
also update design specifications for the coal mine dust
personal sampler units to include improvements made to
this device in the past 15 years. This rulemaking does
not address the requirements in 30 CFR parts 70, 71, and
90 on the use of dust samplers. |
