The main objective of this research project is to better understand the failure strength and the modes of failure of different types of mechanical anchor systems in stone masonry.

A secondary objective is to discover whether various non-destructive methods for evaluation of physical properties applied to the stone specimens helps to predict the tension and shear strength of the mechanical anchors.
