Illinois in Focus: Census Bureau Pre-Primary Snapshot
About 66 percent of Illinois’ voting-age citizens cast a ballot in the 2004 general election, slightly above the national rate of 64 percent. As one of the 24 states holding “Super Tuesday” presidential primaries and caucuses, Illinois’ 2007 population of 12.9 million includes a higher median household income and median home value than the nation as a whole, according to U.S. Census Bureau statistics.
