What: |
The U.S. Census Bureau will host a community
forum with the New York City’s Office of Emergency
Management to explore how census data can be used
in emergency planning preparedness and recovery
in the event of a natural disaster. The Census Bureau
provided assistance to the Gulf Coast areas affected
by Hurricane Katrina by providing a wealth of data,
such as demographic, socioeconomic and geographic
information, as well as, housing and industry profiles. |
|
|
|
This is the first in a series of discussions to be
held around the nation about emergency preparedness
by the Census Bureau. The Census Bureau hopes to
receive valuable input from local planners and community
organizations about the kinds of data it can provide
that would be most beneficial during natural disaster
emergencies. |
