                Census 2000 Dress Rehearsal Data
                    Now Available on CD-ROM

The Commerce Department's Census Bureau today released a CD-ROM
containing basic demographic data from the Census 2000 Dress Rehearsal.
The dress rehearsal was conducted in 1998 in Columbia, S.C., and 11
surrounding counties; Menominee County, Wis., including the Menominee
Reservation; and Sacramento, Calif.

The CD-ROM set has unadjusted data from the 100-Percent Summary File for
Columbia, as well as adjusted and unadjusted data for the other dress
rehearsal sites. These data were released earlier on the Census Bureau's
Internet Web site. The files contain a number of tabulations showing
information based on the questions asked of the entire population and at
every housing unit. The CD-ROMs also include the 100-Percent Demographic
Profile, a one-page table with key population and housing characteristics
about the dress rehearsal sites.

All survey and census results may contain measurement and sampling
errors and researchers who use the data to create their own estimates are
solely responsible for the validity of those estimates. Information about
these potential measurement errors is provided. The Census Bureau
recommends that data users incorporate this information in their analysis
and cite the Census Bureau as a source of the core data only.

These data are available on the Internet through the Census Bureau's new
dissemination system, American FactFinder http://factfinder.census.gov/.
