Deputy Secretary Steinberg to Address National Council for International Visitors Annual Meeting

Deputy Secretary of State James B. Steinberg will discuss the new Administration’s foreign policy priorities in an address to the Ambassadors Luncheon Plenary of the National Council for International Visitors Annual Meeting. The address will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 12, at the Renaissance Washington, DC Hotel, Grand Ballroom, 999 Ninth Street, NW, Washington, DC.
The address is part of a three-day meeting of more than 500 delegates from 90 communities across the United States, which runs from February 12-14 and is centered on the theme “Citizen Diplomacy: Sharing America – Experiencing the World.” Through an array of expert speakers, training sessions, regional briefings, and visits to foreign embassies, the event offers participants an opportunity to increase their understanding of U.S. diplomacy and hone their skills in coordinating local programs for the Department of State’s International Leadership Visitor Program.
The Deputy Secretary’s remarks, followed by brief Q&A, are open to the press, on-the-record. The audience will also include Ambassadors and senior representatives from over 60 countries.
Pre-set time for cameras: 10:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.

Media representatives may attend this event upon presentation of one of the following: (1) A U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification card (driver's license, passport).
