Death of Foreign Service Officer Brian Adkins

The United States Department of State expresses its deepest condolences on the sudden death of Foreign Service Officer Brian Adkins on January 31. Mr. Adkins was serving in the Consular section of the Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He was twenty five years old.

The death is under investigation by the Bureau of Diplomatic Security and we are coordinating closely with the Government of Ethiopia.

Brian is survived by his father, John; his mother, Christine; his sister, Tiffany Adkins Cooper; his brother, Michael; his grandmother, Lynn Parfitt; and his grandmother, Sharron Adkins. The family is planning funeral services for next week. Department officials will be attending.

Brian will be deeply missed by his family, colleagues, and friends throughout the world.
