Back in Blog 2, "Turning the Wheel...," I was tracing the strange but true link between methamphetamines and antiquities theft.  Turns out I'm not the only person with this on their mind.  Samir S. Patel, senior editor of Archaeology magazine, just published a piece on it in the March/April issue (Vol. 62, No. 2).  To summarize, looted artifacts are untraceable commodities, and consequently a "kind of strange synergy is developing with meth in particular that puts every archaeological site and collection at greater risk."  If you're interested in learning more about this synergy, check out "Drugs, Guns and Dirt."
