CDC Releases Annual Health Impact Report

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is pleased to present the 2008 State of CDC, the agency's annual health impact report. The report, which is currently online, allows viewers to explore success stories of health protection, cutting edge research, and real world disease investigation that CDC conducted in 2008.
This year's theme is "Partnering for a Healthy World," which echoes CDC's vision of "Healthy People in a Healthy World – Through Prevention."
As the theme implies, this year's report not only focuses on the outstanding men and women at CDC who are making real differences through their work in public health, it also explores the vital partnerships that are developed to secure a healthy future for the nation and the world. CDC's partners exponentially help the agency carry out public health actions and develop public health findings and recommendations. By working with its partners and establishing a global network of staff, laboratories, and response centers, the agency can have the greatest impact on the future of public health.
The full report includes sections on CDC's commitment to scientific excellence, readiness and response, and partnerships, representing some of the crucial work CDC and its partners have undertaken in 2008.
