Hydrologic Data

Surface-water, water-quality, ground-water, precipitation, and spring data are currently available for the study area from NWISWeb.

Geophysical Log Images

Lithologic and geophysical logs for “wildcat” oil and gas exploration wells in Nevada are available for inspection at the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology in Reno and at the State Archives in Carson City. As part of the BARCAS study, logs for 115 wells were scanned and stored digitally as tiff images. Well locations in the BARCAS study area are in White Pine County and adjacent parts of Elko, Lincoln, and Nye Counties.

Logs may be viewed by clicking a county on the map or by selecting a county from the following list:
Elko || Lincoln || Nye || White Pine

Logs are provided in Portable Document Format (PDF). Original TIFF images of the logs are available by contacting Russ Plume (rwplume@usgs.gov). Tiff images are large and will need appropriate software for viewing.
