I came to work for the U.S. Geological Survey's Public Inquiries Office in Anchorage, Alaska, in 1975. There I sold maps and publications and helped answer questions from the public until 1987, when I moved to Tucson, Arizona. In 1988, I joined the Minerals Information Office in Tucson where I gathered and disseminated Mineral Resources Data System (MRDS) records, answered minerals-related questions, and worked with Center for Inter-American Mineral Resource Investigations scientists to gather data from and to install MRDS in Latin American countries. |
As part of the Databases and Information Analysis Project for the Western United States and of the Global Mineral Resources Assessment Project, I map using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for internal use and for publication. I also respond to some of the inquiries that come into the office from the public, industry, or other government agencies. |
