Climate and Sustainability: U.S. Department of Commerce Services for the Business Community

Co-Sponsored by: The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the International Trade Administration (ITA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC)

What?

A one-day seminar presenting climate data, services, and programs available from the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) for U.S. companies coming to terms with climate variability. The agenda will feature strategies for sustainability, competitiveness, and networking for the business community.

When?/Where?

Wednesday, April 1, 2009
U.S. Department of Commerce
1401 Constitution Avenue NW, Room 4830
Washington, DC 20230

Why?

The DOC estimates that at least one-third of the U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP)is climate sensitive—a potential economic impact of $4 trillion per year. Many U.S. businesses are already taking steps to factor climate change and sustainability into their business planning. NOAA provides unique, scientific, climate data and services that support such efforts. ITA is dedicated to enhancing the global competitiveness of U.S. industry, expanding its market access, and increasing its exports. Both bureaus will present programs about services available to members of the business community seeking sustainable economic growth.
