Reflections on Memories Lost: Stories of Early Alzheimer's Disease

Reflections on Memories Lost

Washington University Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, 2003.
1 VHS Videotape, 33 minutes
$7.50 each

Reflections on Memories Lost was developed to raise public awareness about the signs of early AD. The video, based on a book by Lisa Snyder entitled Speaking our Minds: Personal Reflections from Individuals with Alzheimer's, combines poignant dramatized scenes with expert commentary on the symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of early AD.

Several vignettes following the stories of two African-American characters are featured in this video: Booker, a man with mild AD cared for by his daughter, and Bea, a woman with mild-moderate AD cared for by her husband.

Dr. John C. Morris, Director of the Washington University AD Research Center provides commentary after each scene.

Reflections was originally produced for the stage in August 2001 by the Washington University Alzheimer's Disease Research Center in partnership with the St. Louis Black Repertory Company. This video version was filmed in Fall 2002 with funding support from the National Institute on Aging (P50-AG05681) and through an educational grant from Ortho-McNeil and Janssen Pharmaceuticals.
