Lessons Learned: Shared Experiences in Coping

Lessons Learned: Shared Experiences in Coping

The Duke Family Support Program at Duke University Medical Center; 1999. 1 booklet. $7.00 each

In heartfelt words, the contributors share knowledge, wisdom, and lessons they have learned with the hope that others may benefit from their experiences. The booklet addresses a range of topics faced by AD caregivers, including the rewards of caregiving; coping when the person with AD becomes abusive; the healing power of laughter and hugs; getting a diagnosis; decision-making; asking for help; and dealing with difficult feelings such as anger, fatigue, frustration, and regret.

Caregivers, family members of AD patients, pastors, and health professionals all may benefit from the presentation of the very personal information in this booklet. Physicians may want to suggest it to family members and other caregivers.
