Detailed Forecast Discussion |
FORECAST SUMMARY: Monday, May 4th, 2009 through Monday, May 11th, 2009\n\nOzone: 8-hr concentrations are forecast to be mostly Good with only scattered low Moderates possible Monday and Tuesday.\n\nPM-2.5: 24-hour concentrations through the period are expected to range between Good and mid Moderate.\n\nFORECAST DISCUSSION:\n\nHigh pressure will keep pleasant conditions and seasonably warm temperatures in place through mid-week. Good fine particulate levels are expected through Tuesday with an east/southeast surface wind flow in place. With sunshine and warmer temperatures 8-hr Ozone concentrations may slip into the low Moderate range early in the week; however, most sites will remain Good.\n\nA weak frontal boundary is forecast to move in Wednesday bringing the chance for precipitation late in the day. On and off weather systems will be moving through the region keeping scattered showers/storms in the forecast through Friday. As for air quality levels, the surface wind flow will be rather weak; therefore, fine particulate levels will likely linger between the middle Good and middle Moderate range. Ozone readings should hold in the Good range.\n\nEXTENDED FORECAST:\n\nAt this time the extended forecast models are showing the chance for precipitation lingering through the weekend with high pressure moving in early next week. With this scenario 8-hr Ozone levels will remain Good and fine particulate levels will likely range between the Good and low Moderate range. This forecast will be updated later in the week if air quality conditions deteriorate beyond this forecast.\n\nForecast updated by Stephanie Hengesbach: Monday, May 4th, 2009\n\nNext forecast update: Monday, May 11th, 2009 |
