Hydrological Data from Yellowstone

As of January 2007, YVO collects samples of water from Yellowstone's rivers approximately 28 times per year.  These waters are analyzed for a variety of dissolved components such as Cl, F,  Br, SO42- and HCO3-. Combined with data on streamflow, these data allow calculation of the amounts of dissolved gases that flow out of Yellowstone's hydrothermal system.  The information is useful for measuring changes to the hydrothermal system caused by meterological, human or geological factors.
