Country Reports on Economic and Trade Practices
are prepared by the
Department of State in accordance with section 2202 of the Omnibus Trade and Competitiveness Act of 1988 (P.L. 100-418). The reports
are intended to provide a single, comparative analysis of the economic policies and trade practices of
countries with which the United States has significant economic or trade relationships.

Combating International Bribery
On July 31, 1998 the U.S. Senate ratified the OECD Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions and approved implementing legislation. As required by the Senate Resolution of Advice and Consent, in collaboration with other federal affairs agencies, the Department of State has published two of a series of six annual reports on the implementation and enforcement of the Convention.
